Nigerian student Utof Ekong has just become the first Nigerian to earn a “First Class Degree” and become the best overall student at Tokai University in Tokyo, Japan since 1965!
The last time anyone graduated with a grade point average similar to Utof Ekong was over 50 years ago. Utof, who put himself through school by working two jobs has won many other academic awards at the university; totaling to about six awards. On top of all his academic excellence, Utof also solved a 30 year old outstanding mathematical equation in his first semester!
Utof speaks English, Yoruba, French and Japanese.
Now that’s young, brilliant and black at it’s FINEST!
It’s time to end the right-wing myths about the so-called “dangers” of accommodating transgender students. They’ve never been true, and they only make it harder to create safe and welcoming school environments for ALL kids.
Notice how all arguments rests on (1) the denial of people being trans, (2) cis boys doing awful things, and (3) protecting exclusively cis kids.
If they accepted trans kids as who they are these arguments would make no sense. If the weren’t sexist they would not blame trans girls for the behaviour of cis boys, but these people have a tendency to blame the oppressed for the behaviour of the privileged. And they clearly don’t care about protecting the safety of trans kids, I suspect most would feel that the abuse of trans kids is a positive incentive to discourage them from being trans.
this isn’t funny. this is a real name. english-speaking perspectives imposed on asian names (passed down and given, full of their own history, cultural and familial significance) to make them silly, to make jokes out of them is xenophobic, orientalist, anglocentric humor. i know you know better, i can’t believe how many times i’ve seen this on my dash
